Diabetes in pregnancy (known as gestational diabetes)
Gestational diabetes usually occurs in pregnant women around 24 to 28 weeks of gestation. This is diagnosed when the blood glucose levels appear higher than normal. A pregnant woman may not have any symptoms of gestational diabetes. Some pregnant women may be put onto a strict diet or exercise or in some cases insulin may be required.
